Picosecond laser is a kind of Q-switched laser . The Q-Switched laser is the most effective way to remove natural or artificial (tattoo)pigmentation, while minimizing the risk of damage to surrounding tissue. It uses an active Q-Switch laser to deliver photo acoustic shockwaves to the target area through high laser intensities in short nanosecond pulse.The mechanical Q-Switch effect works by vibrating and breaking up the pigment in the lesion or the ink particles in the tattoo.As the area heals, the body’s immune system flushes away the shattered pigment, revealing lighter, clear skin with minimal risk of scarring or hyper pigmentation.
The specific laser wavelength will act on epidermis and dermis and on melanin. The pigments begin to swell and explode to tiny particles after absorbing this high energy laser. Some of them are shot from the body, the other parts are gradually removed by the metabolism.
